Reborn doll… BAD paint job?
I read about ‘reborning dolls’ online. It looked like fun and i have a 6 year old who loves dolls. I did a lot of research and got myself a kit. i wasnt going to get into it as seriously as most do, this was just going to be for my daughter and a bit of fun for me. BUT to my horror the paint took to the vinyl immediatly and with such strong color, i read about how to paint them on several different site and with a few diff methods. it wouldnt rub off or in or wash off, i tried nail polish remover but it only faded it a little. i just dabbed a tiny bit of paint on and rubbed it in, but she looks like a clown! is there anyway i can remove the paint so i can start over (and any tips on how to paint with acrylic paint would also be appreciated)
Acetone would probably do the trick. It’s the main ingredient in nail-polish remover (although many polish removers don’t contain acetone anymore), just full-stregnth instead of diluted. You can buy a small can at a hardware store, and probably have it the rest of your life. Do be careful with it, though, as it can definitely melt plastic at full strength. Just use a little at a time.
Since the doll’s head apparently grabs right on to the paint, practice mixing and applying the paint first on something you don’t care about. A thrift-store doll, maybe?
